Sessions are 90 minutes in length and done fully clothed on a comfortable mat on the floor. Treatment is very interactive between client and therapist and includes modalities such as vibrational distraction, electronic point stimulation and Post-isometric relaxation (PIR) muscle energy technique.
  • Infant Massage
Infant massage is a specialized type of massage taught to deliver services to childbearing women and their infants. Because of the delicate nature of infant massage, massage therapists need to be specially trained and certified in this type of massage.

  • Trigger Point Massage
Trigger point massage utilizes ischemic compression of individual areas of hypersensitivity in muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia. A trigger point is an area within soft tissue structures that is characterized by local tenderness and/or referred phenomena which can include pain, tingling, numbness burning or itching. Students learn to apply firm pressure to these points which helps to clear the trigger point by repeatedly flushing the blood and accumulated toxins out of the trigger point. This creates conditions that foster healing.
  • Myofascial Release Therapy
Myofascial release refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia* and releasing bonds between fascia and integument, muscles and bones, with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and balancing the body. Myofascial release frees fascial restrictions and allows the muscles to move efficiently.
  • REIKI
Reiki massage is a Japanese healing practice that helps people feel more connected to life. It is an ancient healing technique involving the placement of hands onto the body in order to channel energy. Reiki allows the massage therapist to tap into an unlimited supply of “life force energy to improve health and enhance the quality of life.
  • Diploma Osteopathic manual practice
DOMP is a hands-on method of treatment whose purpose is to restore function in the body by finding and addressing the primary causes of pain. There is an inextricable relationship between the structure and function of the body. The goal is to restore the position, mobility, and vitality to the structures of the body and allow it to return to a more natural, healthy state. Treatment can be directed toward health and maintenance, resolving specific issues such as injuries or degenerative changes, and enhancing athletic performance.

Brandi Mayer
Brandi MayerMassage Therapist
I went to school for massage therapy and then worked for a chiropractor for a while. Then I decided I wanted to try nursing school and after almost 2 years. I quickly remembered why I went into alternative therapies. I always had a thought there had to be a balance and began looking into more functional medicine. I took more classes in myofascial release, neuromuscular, I have a diploma in Osteo Manual Practice where I learned muscle energy therapy, craniosacral therapy and more, pregnancy and infant massage and Thai bodywork.

When I massage I use all of my different techniques to tailor what I believe your body needs to address each client’s musculoskeletal needs. With my background in nursing I always felt that there was more to it and I found my missing link when I found a program called Functional Diagnostic Nutrition. This program allows me to look at functional lab work to address underlying issues. We were taught to help clients with Diet, Rest, Exercise, Stress reduction, and Supplements. This allows us to help every cell, tissue and organ in the body. Now I can not only help the musculoskeletal but the body as a whole.

Kelsey Duernberger
Kelsey DuernbergerMassage Therapist
I’m Kelsey Duernberger, a Licensed Massage Therapist. I began my Massage Therapist training in 2017 at A Gathering Place Massage Therapy School and Clinic under the guidance of Cindy Goodnetter. I am passionate about making others feel the best in their bodies! I enjoy treating clients to a relaxing Swedish Massage when it’s time to unwind, and I also enjoy treating mothers-to-be to Prenatal Massage. I find my most gratifying work coming from Trigger Point Therapy. This work provides relief to chronic pain areas that have developed over time by using a combination of direct holding pressure and stretching techniques to the affected area.

Whether you are looking to relax and drift off, or need relief to your chronic pain areas, I will listen to you with intention and develop a custom treatment plan specific to your needs.

Dawn LaFata
Dawn LaFataMassage Therapist
I am a Registered Nurse, Licensed Massage Therapist, Holistic Health Practitioner, Certified Biocraniopath, Level 3 Reiki Master, Level 4 Touch for Health Specialist and Certified YoMassage Instructor.

I began my career over 25 years ago as an Operating Room Nurse after graduating from Barnes Jewish Hospital of Nursing. It wasn’t until I began obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at McKendree University that my entire attitude on “healthcare” shifted. I took a transcultural nursing class that showed the many different alternatives to “medicine” as I knew it. I learned that there are many holistic ways to heal people, outside of western medicine. I started classes in holistic health immediately following my BSN. Additional areas in which I trained are: Massage and Bodywork through the Healing Arts Center, Biocraniopathy, Touch for Health, Reiki, Prana and YoMassage.

I specialize in energy work, Touch for Health, acupressure, trigger point release, myofascial release, Swedish, Shiatsu, deep tissue, cupping, reflexology, biocraniopathy and YoMassage. I am excited to help YOU find your own wellness within!
